Cultural information: "Chinese Rhubarb" grows into a very large plant. Be sure to plant it where it will have plenty of room to grow. The plant looks very similar to Rhubarb except it's much larger with serrated leaves. In early summer "Chinese Rhubarb" develops long stems that reach high above the foliage producing numerous small red flowers. Plant in full sun to partial shade in compost rich, moist or boggy soil.

The leaves of all Rheum varieties are poisonous. If ingested they may cause severe stomach discomfort... no wonder it rarely has pest problems.
