Cultural information:  If you grew up in the country and played in the neighborhood ditches... you'll remember "Horsetail" as a popular toy. The larger sections of the plant can be pulled apart and made into a whistle. Sections were also put together... kind of like Tinker Toys.

"Horsetail" can be purchased in the spring at your local Garden Center. Plant in early spring at the ponds edge or directly in the pond at a maximum depth of 8"". Once established "Horsetail" is very easy to grow. Their also a popular landing pad for Dragon Flies. Remove dead stalks as they appear.
