Jack O'Lantern Pumpkin is a Ferry Morse item. This old time favorite is still very popular. The pumpkins grow to 12" - 16" in circumference with deep orange skin. Their the perfect size for carving and great for pies.

The Bed: Add a fresh layer of rich compost to the top soil, then till or spade the bed to loosen the soil and work in the compost. Rake level.

How to Grow: Pumpkins can be planted after all danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed to 60 - 65 degrees. The soil can be pre-warmed by covering with black plastic two to three weeks before planting.

Plant 6 to 8 Pumpkin seeds in hills 1 1/2" deep, spaced 36" to 48" apart, in moist soil. Rows should be 3' to 4' apart. Don't water until the seed germinates. After germination, water as needed. Once Pumpkin seedlings have reached several inches in height thin the plants leaving only the most vigorous 2 or 3 plants.

Harvesting: Pumpkins can be harvested any time after the skin starts to turn orange. Cut from main stems leaving at least 1" of stem attached to the Pumpkin.

Available Hybrids - Cultivars: All from Ferry Morse. Big Max to 100 pounds 120 days, Casper 10 - 12 pounds 105 days, Frosty Hybrid 95 days, and Snack Jack Hybrid 2 1/2 pounds, 100 days.
