"Catskill Brussels Sprouts" is a Ferry Morse seed that produces several small 1" to 2" "cabbages" along the main stalk. The plant will continue to grow "cabbages" until the first hard frost kills the plant.

The Bed: Add a fresh layer of rich compost to the top soil, then till or spade the bed to loosen the soil and work in the compost. Rake level.

How to Grow: Brussels Sprouts are also a cool weather crop that can be planted very early in the season. Plant seed 1/2" deep, spaced 3" apart. Rows should be 6" - 8" apart. Thin or transplant seedlings to 18" if necessary when a few inches tall. Keep the soil moist but not soggy until the seeds germinate. After germination, water as needed. Mulch plants when they are 4" to 6" tall to keep the soil cool and to retain moisture. To increase the size of Brussels sprouts pinch 4" - 6" off the top of the plants when the lower sprouts are 1/2".

Harvesting: Harvest Brussels sprouts from the bottom up after first frost when they are 1" to 2" round. The lower sprouts mature first.

Available Hybrids - Cultivars: Jade Cross  80 days, and Oliver 90 days. There are several other varieties that are 100 to 125 days to harvest.
