Perennial
Cultivation:
Plant Scabiosa in full sun in well drained soil. It adapts to most soil types
well, but prefers an alkaline soil.
Once flowering begins, "Scabiosa" will
produce its bright red flowers nearly all summer attracting bees
and butterflies. They are excellent for fresh or dried
arrangements. Grows well in containers.
Propagation:
Scabiosa seed can be started in a cold frame or greenhouse in early spring,
then moved outdoors after danger of frost has passed. For faster
growth purchase pre-started plants at your local Garden Center or
greenhouse.
