Perennial
Cultivation:
Lady's Mantle is probably best known for its ability to catch and
hold water droplets in its leaves. This easily grown perennial
adds unique texture to the flower garden.
Chartreuse to greenish-yellow clusters of small flowers adorn the
plant mid summer. Under ideal conditions Lady's Mantle can become
invasive to neighboring plants. Spent flower heads can be removed
to help prevent unwanted spreading.
Plant Lady's Mantle in moist fertile soil in full sun or partial
shade. It tolerates most soil types well. Shelter from mid day
summer heat is beneficial.
Propagation: Lady's Mantle seed can be started in a cold frame and
transplanted outdoors after danger of frost has passed. For
quicker growth purchase pre-stared plants at your local Garden
Center. Space Alchemilla plants 24" to 30" apart
depending on how quickly you wish the area to fill in.
Potential pests ~ diseases: Slugs may damage young
plants.
