Cultural information: Easter Lilies are a very popular holiday flowering house plant.

When purchasing an Easter Lily one should always ask for Colorado Grown plants. Locally grown Easter Lily plants are healthier and full of energy... unlike plants that have been shipped across the country, sat in a warehouse, and then sold on the mass market.

Easter Lily flowers are short lived and bruise easily. With this in mind select an Easter Lily with one or two open flowers and several closed or tight flower buds that will soon be flowering. When a new flower opens, the yellow pollen sacks should be removed to avoid petal staining. Indoors place your flowering Easter Lily in an area of the house with bright filtered light. Keep the soil moist at all times, but never soggy. There is no need to fertilize your Easter Lily plant while it is kept indoors.

After danger of frost has passed you may plant your Easter Lily in a partially shaded area outdoors. The following spring your Easter Lily plant should grow back and reward you with many flowers.

Your local Garden Center or Floral Shop will have Easter Lilies available in 6" or 8" containers, most with several plants in the pot.
