Cut Flower Care: Keep the
water in the vase of your Spray Mums fresh. Replace the water every 3 days with cold
water keeping the water level near the top of the vase.
Re-cut
1/2" from the base of each Pom Pom stem under water using a
sharp knife with each water change. Remove any foliage
that may become submerged after re-cutting.
Variety note: There are literally
100's of varieties of Chrysanthemums that can be broken
down into three groups. Potted indoor flowering
plants, perennials known as Fall
Mums and plants grown for use as a fresh cut flower.
Spray Mums are a beautiful, long lasting, inexpensive filler
flower. Pom poms are available in a rainbow of colors sure to
match any season. Flower head types include; anemone, button (the
green flower above), cushion, daisy (the reddish flower), micro,
and spider, (the yellow flower). Spray mums are usually over
36" in length and sold in 7 to 10 stem bunches.
Add a commercial floral preservative such as AquaPlus or
FloraLife to the vase that contains
your Spray Mums with each water change. Floral
preservative helps to prevent bacteria growth, aids in keeping
vase water clear, and feeds your flowers and foliages insuring a longer vase life.
To make your own
cut flower food mix 1/2 teaspoon of table sugar to a quart of cold
water... mixing thoroughly.
