General Filler Flower Care: Keep the water in the vase of your Solidago fresh. Replace the water every 3 days with cold water keeping the water level near the top of the vase.

Re-cut 1/2" from the base of each Solidago stem under water using a sharp knife with each water change. Remove any foliage that may become submerged after re-cutting.

Variety note: Solidago is often thought to be the cause of hay fever in many households. It's actually a different outdoor plant that blooms at the same time called "Ragweed". In Latin Solidago means "To strengthen" or "To make whole". Solidago is a very diverse plant, it can be cultivated in the garden as an annual or a herb. Solidago has several medicinal properties. It dries well and can be used in crafts. Dye can even be made from its flowers.

During fall tinted Solidago becomes available for a short period. Solidago measures between 18" to 24" in length and is sold in 7 to 10 stem bunches.

A new Solidago has recently been introduced called Mardi Gras. It comes packaged with four stems to the bunch. Each stem has 5 long laterals. This new 20 stem bunch is an excellent value for flower shops.

Common Names Include: Solidago, Solidaster, Goldenrod, Mardi Gras Solidago.

Add a commercial floral preservative such as AquaPlus or FloraLife to the vase that contains your Solidago with each water change. Floral preservative helps to prevent bacteria growth, aids in keeping vase water clear, and feeds your flowers and foliages insuring a longer vase life.

To make your own cut flower food mix 1/2 teaspoon of table sugar to a quart of cold water... mixing thoroughly.
