General Cut Flower Care: Keep the vase water of your Safflower fresh. Replace the water every 3 days with cold water keeping the water level near the top of the vase.

Re-cut 1/2" from the base of each Safflower stem under water using a sharp knife with each water change. Remove any foliage that may become submerged after re-cutting.

Variety note: Safflower is predominantly available in two colors, orange and yellow. Pictured is Safflower Summer Sun. Orange Safflower is called Orange Gold. There is a white variety called Lasting White but I have not seen it in the floral trade.

Safflower is sold in 10 stem bunches from late spring to early winter. Its an excellent choice for fall arrangements and bouquets. False Saffron can be grown in Colorado flower gardens.

Add a commercial floral preservative such as AquaPlus or FloraLife to the vase that contains your Safflower with each water change. Floral preservative helps to prevent bacteria growth, aids in keeping vase water clear, and feeds your flowers and foliages insuring a longer vase life.

To make your own cut flower food mix 1/2 teaspoon of table sugar to a quart of cold water... mixing thoroughly.
