General Floral Greens Care: Keep the water in the vase of your "Bird of Paradise" foliage fresh. Replace the water every 3 days with cold water keeping the water level near the top of the vase. Re-cut 1/2" from the base of each stem under water using a sharp knife with each water change.

Variety note: Bird of Paradise has large, thick fleshy leaves between 24" to 36" in length that are relatively firm. They can range in width between 4" to 6", being wider at the base and narrowing at the tip. They are quite durable when used in either a vertical or horizontal position in tropical arrangements. Add a commercial floral preservative such as AquaPlus or FloraLife to the vase that contains your Bird of Paradise foliage with each water change. Floral preservative helps to prevent bacterial growth and feeds your flowers insuring a longer vase life. To make your own cut flower food mix 1/2 teaspoon of table sugar to a quart of cold water... mixing thoroughly.
